Our Story

We're May and Peter, a tech executive and a real estate attorney based in the Hudson Valley, NY. In 2018, we set out to build a modern home of our own. We had no construction background, just high standards and a systematic approach to complex problems.

What We Did

We acquired raw land, hired Olson Kundig to design a 3,000 sq ft steel-concrete-glass home, and then watched COVID blow up every budget and timeline. We acted as our own GC, and ran the build the way we ran our day jobs: as a system, with deadlines and paper trails.

• Finished $600,000 under the lowest contractor bid
• Completed 33% under budget, despite COVID price spikes
• 4.17x equity multiple (316% return on invested capital)

Why We Built This

Dwell featured our approach in 2023. Friends started asking for help. We launched a consulting practice (MAOR) but couldn't take on every project personally. Building Blueprint is that system, written down.
